TOUGH COMNODE Terminals to Maximum Value €8.3 Million
Bittium Wireless announced on 3 October that the Finnish Defence Forces have been authorised to conclude a framework agreement with the company to cover procurement of TOUGH COMNODE terminals to a maximum value of €8.3 million. The agreement will cover the period 2018-2020.
Bittium’s TOUGH COMNODE will fulfil the data transfer needs of the Finnish Defence Forces’ mobile troops by functioning for example as a Voice over IP (VoIP) phone, an IP router or a Symmetrical High-speed Digital Subscriber Line (SHSDL) repeater. The terminals will be used by all three military branches. The system is rugged, easy to install in a range of environments and is also portable by soldiers on the battlefield. The terminal is compatible with the software defined radio-based Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN) system, which is meant for broadband tactical communications and is already in service with the Finnish Defence Forces. The terminal also offers diverse connectivity options to third-party equipment and systems and enables the use of legacy combat net radios as part of an IP-based tactical communication system such as Radio over IP (RoIP).
