Deliveries Complete by Mid-2021
Bittium is to supply the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) with its Tactical Power Pack, under a €1.1 million contract the company announced on 30 November. The FDF will use them as accessories to its Bittium TOUGH COMNODE devices, which are in service as VoIP phones, IP routers and SHDSL repeaters to fulfil the data transfer needs of mobile troops. Delivery will be completed by the middle of 2021.
The Tactical Power Pack includes two 70Wh, 6.7Ah batteries that are attached as one with an adapter, thus making it available as a charger for the two batteries. The system is an excellent accessory for mobile troops, as its batteries can be exchanged quickly for new fully-charged batteries one by one, without interrupting the power supply, thus enabling uninterrupted field use for the device.
Bittium’s Tactical Power Pack has been designed specifically for tactical communication use cases, as an accessory, for instance, for the TOUGH SDR Handheld and TOUGH COMNODE devices, but it can also easily be used with normal tablets and smartphones via USB connections. Its small size and light weight also enable its easy attachment to soldier equipment, together with the device being charged. The Tactical Power Pack’s IP67 rated for water and dust resistance and MIL-STD-810G rated for shock resistance, assuring its use in harsh conditions.
