Mission & Sensor Management Capabilities Enhanced
BIRD Aerosystems announced on 1 August a recent contract to upgrade the operational capabilities of the special mission aircraft fleet in service with an unidentified South American customer.
The operational enhancements include an upgrade of BIRD’s MSIS Mission Management System to enable enhanced mission sensor operations, precise tracking of suspected targets and the use of advanced mission management algorithms. Together, these enhancements are expected to further reduce operator workload, resulting in more effective mission conduct. The upgrade will also enhance SATCOM utilisation of the system, enabling system data, including high-resolution video, to be transferred dynamically.
In addition, BIRD Aerosystems will add advanced task force command and control capability to one of the customer’s aircraft, enabling embarked high-level commanders onboard full authority over task force missions from the air while also communicating in real time with ground teams and headquarters. This will further enhance customer mission effectiveness by providing real-time situational awareness and decision-making to both embarked and in-theatre commanders.
