BIRD Aerosystems to Adapt RCD and MSIS for Users of HENSOLDT PrecISR

Enhancements Improve Operational and Cost Efficiency

BIRD Aerosystems has received a follow-on contract to develop additional capabilities for its radar control and display (RCD) unit that controls the HENSOLDT PrecISR advanced multi-mode radar family.

Following completion of the first phase of development and customisation earlier this year, the next phase will include developing specific and more advanced capabilities tailored for HENSOLDT customers. The new RCD capabilities include dynamic SAR imagery footprints, control of multi-layered data visualisation, and enhanced real-time radar information and status. Furthermore, the RCD system will be integrated with additional surveillance sensors used by customers in conjunction with PrecISR devices, such as AIS and others.

The intent is a focus on customising RCD for new customers and programmes and the effort includes provision of an integrated logistic support package encompassing RCD training and system documentation, to be provided to HENSOLDT and its customers.

The PrecISR airborne surveillance radar is HENSOLDT’s latest technology response to the challenges of ISR missions. Designed for a wide range of airborne platforms, PrecISR is the sensor of choice for armed forces seeking to mitigate human and drug trafficking, piracy and smuggling, illegal fishing, terrorism, oil dumping or any other environmental threat.

The radar comprises the latest generation gallium nitride AESA antenna technology with two-dimensional e-scan capability, combined with high bandwidth multi-channel radar core electronics and integrated radar signal processing. Even in challenging environmental conditions and sea states, PrecISR users will experience high levels of situational awareness, coupled with significant flight cost savings.
