Control and Management Solutions for PrecISR Radar Family

Hensoldt and BIRD Aerosystems have inked an agreement to collaborate in integrating Hensoldt’s new PrecISR advanced multi-mode radar family with BIRD’s Radar Control and Display (RCD) and Mission Management Systems (MSIS).

As a part of this joint programme, the RCD will be adapted to control and manage the PrecISR 1000 radar. Furthermore, data from the radar will be collected and processed by the MSIS, which will automatically classify, prioritise and display the information gathered from the radar, alongside additional information from the other onboard sensors, using state-of-the-art algorithms with an easy to use and intuitive human-machine interface.

The PrecISR, Hensoldt’s new family of airborne multi-mission surveillance radars, features the latest gallium nitride active electronically scanned antenna (AESA) technology, with two-dimensional e-scan capability, combined with large bandwidth multi-channel radar core electronics and integrated radar signal processing. PrecISR has been designed for all types of airborne surveillance missions in 24/7 operation and in all weather conditions, to ensure safety and security and to detect conventional and asymmetric threats on the ground, at sea and in the air. Detecting, tracking and classifying more than a thousand objects, the PrecISR increases surveillance capabilities and mission efficiency for any special mission aircraft.

BIRD’s RCD is integrated into its advanced MSIS, which manages the complete mission and enables air, sea and ground units to share real-time information. MSIS reduces mission crew workload by display and operation of important aspects of the mission at any given time, enabling the crew to efficiently focus on detection and classification of priority targets.
