Key Role in NIMASA Deep Blue Programme

Following delivery of its ASIO Maritime Task Force Solution to Nigeria, as part of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Deep Blue Project, Bird Aerosystems has completed a successful live demonstration of the aircraft’s capabilities, including real-time interception of vessels conducting illegal activities at sea.

The ASIO task Force has been successfully operating in Nigeria for over two years, helping to tackle piracy and allowing the nation to complete 2022 with zero recorded piracy events. Recently, the International Bargaining Forum removed Nigeria ‘risk maritime nations’ list, confirming improved global security ratings in the country’s maritime domain.

The solution provided to Nigeria includes multiple Cessna Citation CJ3 Maritime Patrol Aircraft equipped with Bird’s MSIS mission management system. The integrated air-sea-land solution facilitates maritime and coastal surveillance, patrol, border and strategic asset survey and EEZ monitoring over large ranges, enabling detection, tracking, and interception of suspicious activity at sea.
