Company Identifies Niche Market

On 13 June, defence electronics company Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics (BEL) opened a representative office in Vietnam.

Defence Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman handed over the symbolic key to the new office to BEL Chiarman and Managing Director Gowtama M V in the presence of P Harish, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production) and other senior officials from India and the Vietnamese defence forces at a ceremony held during the Vietnam-India Defence Industry Business Meeting at the Hotel Melia in Hanoi. The office is close to the Indian Embassy in Hanoi.

BEL is fast expanding its global presence, putting its best foot forward to give a thrust to exports worldwide, especially in South East Asian countries such as Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. Spotting a niche market in Vietnam, BEL has now set up its first representative office there to address export business opportunities and to provide unstinted product support and services to users in the region. The office will aim to promote BEL’s exports in areas such as weapon systems as well as radar, naval, military communications, electronic warfare, coastal surveillance and combat management systems.
