Modern Day Marine 17: B.E. Meyers Shows BOARS-M2

B.E. Meyers USMC LA-22/U for MARCORSYSCOM Ocular Interrupter (OI) Program

On booth #3229 B.E. Meyers is exhibiting its all new BOARS-M2, as well as the MAWL, IZLID, and GLARE series of lasers. B.E. Meyers is also presenting its GLARE RECOIL (now officially designated the USMC LA-22/U), the sole-source winner for the MARCORSYSCOM Ocular Interrupter (OI) Program, and a great Hail and Warning solution for any escalation of force scenario.

The BOARS-M2 mount is a low-profile mounting solution that offers a quick-disconnect with true return-to-zero reattach. According to the company it represents a solution to the shortcomings of current M2 platform heavy machine gun optics and accessories mounting systems. By incorporating a modular design, and compact dimensions that respond to the needs of the end user, BOARS-M2 provides vastly increased capabilities to the current M2 platform. Key features include: a quick detach optics/laser rail, snag free design, non-marring installation, low height-over-bore, and oversized pass through aperture for use with iron sights. BOARS-M2 is comprised of two parts: the lower base and a quick-detach optics/accessory rail, allowing for quick and effective changes between day and night optics without any loss of zero. In addition, cleaning and maintenance of the M2 weapon platform with an optics mount is simplified with the system. Legacy systems require the complete removal of the optic and mount (resulting in a complete loss of zero), whereas BOARS-M2 only requires the quick-detach optics/accessory rail to be removed, thus preserving optic zero once all components have been re-installed.

Designed and built for extreme environmental conditions and a variety of weapon platforms, the rugged IZLID 200P provides long-range targeting and illumination capabilities. With greater target awareness and effective engagement at extended ranges, the IZLID 200P is ideal for all crew served weapon and individual rifle applications. It is a compact, lightweight IR laser for pointing and marking by military forces; ideal as a command pointer, for target marking and for communication with aircraft. A simple adjustment turns the laser into an IR illuminator for rapid identification with NVG’s or IR sensors. The IZLID 200P is small enough to fit in the user’s pocket for quick access, but is powerful enough to call in airstrikes or aim weapons over a range of 39 kilometres. The small size, light weight, but powerful aiming beam provides the perfect solution for an M4 or M16 as well as an M2 .50 cal HBMG or Minigun. The IZLID 200P is also routinely used on aircraft-mounted weapons and by pilots to point out or illuminate ground targets from the cockpit. For even longer range capability, the IZLID Ultra is the ideal choice.

Capable of supporting hail and warning procedures at any range, the company’s GLARE series of non-lethal products were chosen as the PEO Soldier Green Laser Interdiction System (GLIS) Phase 1 winner. B.E. Meyers’ non-lethal laser systems provide the soldier with a highly effective tool to safeguard friendly troops as well as non-combatants, preventing collateral damage while protecting the force. For long-distance hail and warning, especially during maritime security, the GLARE LA-9/P combines a powerful green beam with Eye Safe technology. The laser rapidly determines if an unintended observer is within the nominal ocular hazard distance (NOHD) and immediately shuts off the glaring output to prevent accidental eye injury. Once the bystander has moved out of the NOHD, the laser output instantly resumes. The GLARE MOUT is a non-lethal visual disruption laser (dazzler), ideally suited for small-arms weapon integration as well as mobile crew-served applications. When a suspect individual approaches a restricted or controlled area, the GLARE MOUT is able to hail and warn that person before shots have to be fired. Its shockingly bright green dazzler beam sends an irrefutable, multi-lingual, cross-cultural message. The GLARE RECOIL is one of the most advanced weapon-mounted hail and warning laser systems available. Built for the USMC Systems Command Ocular Interruption Program, the GLARE RECOIL features B.E. Meyers’ patented SmartRange technology, integrating laser range finding into the systems’ safety controls.

The GLARE RECOIL is an eye-safe Escalation of Force laser dazzler for hail and warning, with an NOHD of 0 meters due to the integration of a laser rangefinder into the safety controls of the system. The GLARE RECOIL can easily envelope both short-range and long-range target areas through the motorized zoom functions. It is an amazing piece of technology. Designed for combat applications, the GLARE RECOIL incorporates groundbreaking safety technologies in a ruggedised package that performs in demanding land and sea environments, with impactful hail and warning capabilities able to safely alert targets anywhere from 3m to beyond 16 kilometres (10 miles).

The MAWL-DA is a high power infrared and visible green aiming and illumination laser for individual carbines. Offering improved ergonomics, interface, and performance, the MAWL-DA has been designed from the ground up around the evolved needs of the modern night fighter. Designed to address use of space and ergonomics shortcomings of lasers on short carbines like the SOCOM Mk18, the MAWL-DA mounts offset from the rail to minimise impact on hand position and optic field-of-view. Shooting with a laser should feel the same as shooting without one. Now it does. The MAWL-DA eliminates granular illuminator adjustment and complex multi-position switches and instead consolidates these choices into the settings a soldier needs: Close Range, Mid Range, and Long Range, with the power and divergences appropriate for each.
