Air, Land and Sea Solutions on Display at SOFIC 2017
Battelle has been supporting the unique needs of US special operations forces (SOF) for 30 years and at SOFIC 2017 in Tampa, FL this month focused its attention on a revolutionary counter-UAS device, armoured vehicle solutions and an in-flight ice protection system, all specifically oriented to the SOF community.
- DroneDefender is a unique counter-UAS system that arrests threatening drones by jamming their control signals. Over 200 units have already been procured by DoD, Homeland Security and international agencies.
- Battelle has been building Non-Standard Commercial Vehicle (NSCV) for the US SOF community under a $170 million contract awarded last year. Based on Toyota and Ford vehicles, the NSCV will have special armour, suspension, brakes, frames and body reinforcements, as well as infrared lighting, blackout mode, and SOF-specific C4ISR equipment.
- Using proprietary technology based on a resistive heating coating, Battelle has developed HeatCoat, an innovative anti-icing and de-icing solution whose small size, weight and power envelope make it eminently suitable for small UAS as deployed by SOF.
From rapid prototyping, technology insertion and system integration to mission-critical equipment development and deployment to advanced unmanned solutions across domains, Battelle has been trusted by US Special Operations Command since its inception to transform discoveries in the lab to mission-ready solutions that protect people and save lives.
