HF Equipment in Armoured Mobile ATC Towers
Barrett Communications announced on 24 January that its HF radios have been installed in four mobile armoured air traffic control towers for use in African peacekeeping missions.
Designed and built in the Middle East, the towers carry a full-spectrum communications package, including HF, VHF, UHF and ground to ground links, audio recording for debriefing purposes, meteorological sensors and displays as well as ancillary ATC systems. The entire cabin is carried on a low-bed trailer that can be transported in a C-130 HERCULES aircraft and is designed to be elevated for visual surveillance of temporary airfields in peacekeeping missions.
