Bahrain Requests Weapons for F-16 Block 70 Fleet

$750 Million for Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground Systems

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 3 May that the State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale of weapons to support Bahrain’s fleet of F-16 Block 70 and F-16V aircraft. The potential sale carries an approximate value of $750 million.

The government of Bahrain has requested: 32 AIM-120C-7 AMRAAM missiles plus one guidance section; 32 AIM-9X missiles; 20 AGM-84 Block II and two ATM-84L-1 Block II HARPOON missiles;40 AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) all-up rounds; 50 AGM-88B HARM missiles plus four training rounds; 100 GBU-39 250lb Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) all-up rounds; 400 MAU-209 C/B Computer Control Groups (GBU-10 and -12); 80 MAU-210 Enhanced Computer Control Groups (GBU-49 and -50); 340 MXU-650 Air Foil Groups (GBU-12 and -49); 140 MXU-651 Air Foil Groups (GBU-10 and -50); 70 KMU-557 GBU-31 tail kits (GBU-31 and -56 JDAM); 120 KMU-572 tail kits (GBU-38 and -54); 100 DSU-38 proximity sensors (GBU-54);462 BLU-109/BLU-117 or Mk-84 2,000lb bomb bodies (for GBU-10, -31, -50 and -56) plus 10 practice munitions; and 670 FMU-152 fuses.

Also included in the request are LAU-118 launchers; BRU-61 racks; general purpose Air Foil Groups; tactical training rounds; combat arms training and maintenance assets; and a wide range of technical, support, logistical, documentation and engineering services.
