FCS Resurrected We all remember the cancelled Future Combat Systems (FCS) programme, billions spent into developing innovation, then scrapped due to budget decline. From that era, BAE Systems‘ Armed Robotic Combat Vehicle (ARCV) aims to meet a rising demand from the recently published US Army strategy on robotics and autonomous systems.
The ARCV is on show at 2017 AUSA Global Force in Huntsville, AL, this week, starting discussions wether large, unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) can deliver firepower and perform reconnaissance missions. The vehicle uses a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensor to navigate autonomously and includes a powerful 30mm cannon.
