£50 Million, Seven-Year Repair and Maintenance Agreement
Babcock International has secured a seven-year, ~£50 million contract with the MoD for repair and maintenance of Sea Water Systems on the Royal Navy’s ships and submarines, the company announced on 25 March.
The arrangement leads on from Babcock’s previous programmes, and will operate from Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. It will see Babcock continue in its role providing repairs, technical support and maintenance to pump equipment across the fleet. Under the asset availability service, Babcock’s scope will increase to support the Chloropac and Bio-foul systems.
Richard Drake, Managing Director of Babcock’s Defence Systems Technology business, commented “[…] this award builds on our already strong relationship. We will provide first-class technical support and engineering services to pump equipment for the Royal Navy, helping ensure maximum availability of their assets.”
Babcock has been working with suppliers to explore innovative new solutions in manufacturing and supplying pump components, with the aim of further extending pump reliability and driving even greater efficiency.
