£150 Million, Five-Year Communications Support Undertaking
The UK MoD has awarded Babcock a five-year, £150 million (€173.5 million) logistics support contract (LSC) under the £3.2 billion Battlefield and Tactical Communication Information Systems (BATCIS) programme.
The Babcock LSC solution enables the MoD to provide assured tactical communications support to end users in the most efficient and effective manner, according to a 4 March company statement. Babcock will deliver an intelligent digital solution that provides cost effective, resilient support to the Land Equipment Tactical Communications Information Systems (LeTacCIS) equipment portfolio. Delivery will encompass four critical services for the BATCIS team: inventory management; inventory modelling; information management; and technical services.
Building on principles developed in its Maritime System Partner Programme, the company has established ‘Team Connect’ to deliver all aspects of the LSC, establishing an effective, agile supply chain to satisfy operational needs across the complete equipment life cycle. The end-to-end construct is focused on delivering responsive, sustainable solutions that offer value for money, the company says.
“We will deliver a comprehensive programme with future-ready solutions for the MoD through the Logistic Support Contract. Our extensive reach and capability harnesses innovation, building on our already successful support programmes and expertise across the defence industry,” stated Babcock CEO, David Lockwood.
