Helicopter Will Expand Tactical Operations Envelope
Following on from the announcement made at LAAD in Rio de Janeiro in April, the Security Ministry has authorised the procurement of a Leonardo AW169 helicopter for the Gendarmería Nacional Argentina (GNA – Argentine National Gendarmerie) at an approximate cost of $10 million.
The new helicopter will fill a perceived capability gap for the GNA, whose current rotorcraft are optimised for the observation role and are therefore less capable of supporting air assault operations.
