322 Command & Liaison Vehicles
As AUSA 2020 opens its virtual doors in cyberspace, Oshkosh Defense has announced the procurement by Belgium of 322 Command & Liaison Vehicles (CLV) – a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) platform fitted with a Belgian communication system.
“The Oshkosh CLV offers Belgian soldiers the world’s most advanced light military vehicle, delivering next-generation levels of protection, off-road mobility, speed, transportability, and seamless operational and logistical interoperability with [NATO] allies,” commented John Bryant, President of Oshkosh Defense.
“Belgian Defence opted for a worldwide competition in which [‘value for money’] was the only criterion,” observed Col Filip De Varé, Director Land Systems in Belgium. “The CLV will be integrated in the CaMo [Capacité Motorisée – Motorised Capability] programme, an international partnership between the French and Belgian land forces.”
Traditionally procured via the Foreign Military Sales process, the Belgian procurement marks Oshkosh Defense’s first large direct commercial sale of a JLTV-based vehicle. Belgium joins the US, the UK, Lithuania, Slovenia and Montenegro in selecting this vehicle.
