AUSA 2017: Gore Exhibits GORE Military Fabrics and Cables & Materials

Engineered to perform reliably on the battlefield and in the air

W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore) is exhibiting products from both Gore Military Fabrics and Gore Cables and Materials, highlighting Gore CHEMPAK fabric with stretch technology, a new Goreuniform fabric and Gorecables and materials for ground vehicles and aircraft, delivering failure-free performance.

Highlighted on booth #2733 is the Gore CHEMPAK fabric with stretch technology used in the CPCSU-2 (part of the Chemical and Biological Protective Combat Style Uniform [CPCSU] family, designed to offer improved protection against liquid and aerosol threats while reducing weight and pack volume) that delivers protection against a wide range of chemical and biological hazards in liquid, vapour, and aerosol form.

Also on display is a new soft, flexible GoreUniform Fabric that offers what the company calls, “the best combination of improved breathability, greater water resistance, faster drying time and superior strength,” without melting or dripping during flash-fire incidents.

Gore also features its expanded catalogue of GoreCables and Materials for ground vehicles and aircraft that deliver failure-free performance in any military defence operation. Products that are on display include small, lightweight high data rate cables; high-frequency coaxial and microwave/RF assemblies; robust power and signal delivery cables; durable aircraft sealants; and excellent EMI shielding materials.

Gore cables and cable assemblies incorporate the latest materials science to meet rigorous electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements. The company’s cables are engineered for the most demanding applications, to offer what the company describes as, “the highest-in-class performance, valued in multiple industries for delivering signal integrity, speed, and mechanical robustness in the harshest environments.”

Engineered for demanding aerospace environments, these high-speed data cables are constructed with Gore engineered fluoropolymers that deliver reliable signal transmission in a lightweight package and meet the performance requirements of ANSI/NEMA WC 27500 standards for aerospace and industrial electrical cables, Type 24.

Whether the target system architecture requires Ethernet, FireWire, USB, HDMI, high-performance quad, dual gigabit, shielded twisted pair or fibre optic cables, Gore Aerospace High-Speed Data Cables offer stable communication on avionics networks.

Gore Cable Technology offers significant weight savings while maintaining reliable signal integrity. Jacket weight is reduced by as much as 37% when compared to ethylene tetrafluoroethylene materials and 50% when compared to fluorinated ethylene propylene. These lighter-weight materials also result in smaller cable diameters, which ultimately translate to significantly smaller, lighter, and higher-density cable bundles.

The excellent signal integrity of this range of cables can enable the use of smaller gauge cables in any system architecture. Due to their electrical performance and long transmission distances, they can reduce the need for additional signal amplification, thereby further decreasing weight and power requirements.

Gore Aerospace High-Speed Data Cables deliver dependable signal integrity for data transmission in demanding aerospace environments. They ensure reliable performance in temperatures ranging from -55°C to +200°C, including the typical rapid temperature changes encountered during take-off and landing. The cables also facilitate easier installation: the small cable diameter increases flexibility with a tight bend radius, which makes initial routing easier.
