Atlas Elektronik’s systems increase their importance in sea mine countermeasures field

Among the top-notch products, there are SeaCat, SeaFox, and ARCMIS

As unmanned systems are progressively gaining momentum among maritime forces for surface and underwater areas, Atlas Elektronik’s (ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems) systems are gaining increasing importance, particularly in the field of sea mine countermeasures.

Thanks to a combination of technological excellence, customer-oriented research, and the ability to integrate different applications into a common system, the company has an extensive portfolio of countermeasures against manned and unmanned sea mines.

Among others, the unmanned autonomous vehicle ‘SeaCat’ has a unique multi-mission SwapHead technology, which can offer a wide range of capabilities for different applications.

Another product, SeaFox, can be used as a wire-guided identification and disposal drone for combating sea mines. The demining vehicle is used for semi-autonomous disposal of naval mines and other ordnance found at sea. The system has been introduced in large numbers into various navies and a wide range of carrier platforms.

In addition, unmanned surface vehicles such as ARCIMS are used for related missions, both as remote carrier vehicles for SeaCat or SeaFox and as towing vehicles for minesweeping gear. All of these assets can be used in the most efficient way through a command and control system integrated at a higher level, such as the Integrated Mine Countermeasure System (IMCMS).

The Black Sea is an excellent example of an area where mine clearing would be one of the highest priorities to create safe passage for Ukrainian food exports and civilian and humanitarian shipping. Ukraine has an urgent need to strengthen the Ukrainian Navy further. Last week, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, H.E. Oleksii Makeiev, visited Atlas Elektronik and was introduced to the company’s products.
