IDEF 2017 Preview: Aselsan STAMP-2, Ready for Duty

STAMP-2, like its predecessor STAMP, is equipped with advanced features such as automatic target detection and tracking, high stabilisation, and automatic ballistic correction, achieving high hit performance.

Aselsan, with over 20 years of experience in weapon systems, has recently announced that its new product, the STAMP-2 Remote Controlled Weapon System (RCWS), is ready for duty.

Aselsan has exported RCWS to eleven different countries and delivered more than a thousand systems worldwide. Repeated RCWS contracts signed with modern armed forces motivated the company during the development phase of STAMP-2, and now emphasises its commitment to a distinct design identity with continuous development of RCWS. Aselsan is grateful for the valuable support of TUBITAK during this development phase.

Improvements on STAMP-2 are focused on the compact and light design combined with advanced features such as a Training Simulator, an advanced Graphical User Interface, and an High Accuracy Stabilised Gimbal (HASG). Moreover, the elevation movement range has been increased. The Training Simulator and advanced Graphical User Interface exceeds the expectations, according to the company, and reminds of popular computer games.

The display of STAMP-2 is 19in, a large screen on which both day TV and thermal camera images can be displayed, which is an advantage for the gunner. The HASG can rotate in elevation and azimuth axes relative to the turret and gives the gunner independent surveillance capability, while increasing the engagement capability at long distances. By integrating the optional ammunition loading system, STAMP-2 maximises personnel security during ammunition load. STAMP-2 additionally provides the opportunity to integrate a 12.7mm NSV machine gun, a widely used gun in several armies.
