Arc’teryx LEAF continues to bring some of the most innovative specialised clothing & equipment

For 2019, Arc’teryx LEAF has redesigned its ATOM LT and xFunctional lines, creating the Generation 2 (Gen 2) lineup, consisting of new clothing. 

The ATOM LT GEN 2 hoody is a hooded jacket that is worn in either a stand-alone manner or in conjunction with a wet weather protective jacket, when conducting Special Reconnaissance tasks. Weighing 455g/1lbs, it consists of an insulated hood, allowing the option to use a hood when/if required; and a full zip closure (with No Slip Zip), preventing the zipper from self-opening at collar.

The ATOM LT GEN 2 furthremore features a drawcord hem closure vertically routed drawcord with enclosure mitigates snags; cable management loops allowing for the routing of communications cables exiting the hand pocket media ports (these in turn allow for convenience and the secure carriage of mission essential item); and a left chest zip pocket, allowing for the secure carriage of mission essential items. 

Materials used are TORAY Mechanical Stretch Mini-Rip Lightweight, PONTETORTO 7.5oz Hardface Fleece, CLIMASHIELD 2oz Combat Fibrefill Insulation with durable water repellent (DWR) and LI PENG High Air Perm Nylon Ripstop.

The ATOM LT GEN 2 pant is a mid layer pant that is worn in either a stand-alone manner or in conjunction with a wet weather protective pant when conducting Special Reconnaissance tasks. Made of the same materials as above, weighing in at 410g/14.5oz, these pants feature full side zips allow rapid ventilation and facilitate easy off and on; vertically routed cuff drawcord with enclosure mitigates snags and hang-ups; and an elasticised, adjustable nylon web waist allowing for waist size flexibility.

Furthermore, Arc’teryx’ XFUNCTIONAL AR GEN 2 pant weighs 460g/1lbs and looks as if the company is going for the Carhartt market of trendy yet functional work pants. The XFUNCTIONAL AR GEN 2 is a durable casual nylon/cotton pant (CHIA HER Lightweight NYCO 50/50) that can be worn operationally or as an off duty lifestyle apparel item. It features a gusseted crotch for comfort and freedom of movement; articulated fit for better dexterity; retention loops (sewn into waistline) allowing for the tying off of personal items; enhanced belt loops allows for the use of a heavy duty belt that can support concealed carry sidearms/magazines and communications; and an internal waist sweat band allows for the mitigation of friction that is caused by a heavily loaded duty belt. 

It features internal hand pockets that have folding knife/tool storage and media ports to allow internal routing of communications cables and external hand pockets have secure small item compartmentalisation. Seat pockets allow for optional/extra storage and carpenter style pockets provide optional/extra storage.
