Appoints Thomas Tschirner to head up a new división
As part of its Defence Programmes directorate, ArianeGroup has appointed Thomas Tschirner to head up programme management of the company’s Defence business in Germany, where he will be responsible for the coordination, development and operational implementation of defence projects. Thomas takes up his new position as of 1 February 2025, and will build on the company’s current technological expertise.
Thomas has extensive experience in managing complex programmes and a wealth of expertise in both the civil and military sectors.
Before studying aerospace engineering, he served as Lieutenant Colonel with the German Air Force (Luftwaffe). Between 1999 and 2020, he held various posts in engineering, programmes, operations and procurement for both the civil and military activities of engine manufacturers MTU and Rolls-Royce. In these roles, he contributed significantly to the achievement of operational and business objectives in civil engines and a range of European defence programmes. Most recently, he was head of Major Civil Projects and External Partner Management at ArianeGroup, with responsibility for the qualification and industrial implementation of Ariane 6 and future programmes.
