Access to Satellite Network for Military Applications
The Argentine MoD has signed a framework agreement with ARSAT to cooperate in multiple areas of connectivity, cybersecurity, information exchange and training.
The agreement forms part of the plan for the armed forces to be able to access part of the capacity of the satellites developed and operated by ARSAT. Currently, the company has two communications satellites deployed and a third is in development. The intention is for the armed forces to avoid continued reliance on services provided by foreign operators.
ARSAT, a state-owned company, develops and operates the nations communications satellites. The first two such spacecraft – ARSAT-1 and -2, were launched in 2014 and 2015 respectively with a third (ARSAT SG-1) expected to be launched in 2023.
