Argentine Army Recapitalises Utility Fleet

Over 250 Vehicles to be Acquired

The Argentine Army is currently in the process of acquiring a series of new vehicles for various missions, as part of the plan to replace aging vehicles in the utility fleet.

Following initial test and evaluation of an initial batch of 10 Ford RANGERs, militarised by Igaretta, the Army is contracting for a further 21 units to replace the current Mercedes Benz 230Gs. The contract is valued at approx. $19 million (€15.9 million) and the vehicles are to be delivered by the end of 2021.

A tender has also been launched for the purchase of five light cargo vehicles for urban use, with offers received from Igarreta, Peugeot, Mercedes Benz and two other local companies. The Army is also seeking 13 mini-buses with capacity for 19 passengers, eight 40-seat buses, twelve 10t troop transport trucks, 62 4×4 trucks, 14 4×2 medium trucks, 28 4-wheel drive low complexity ambulances equipped with a Type A medical module, 22 250 cc enduro-type motorcycles and ten heavy-duty 6×4 trucks. Tenders for all these purchases have already been issued, and the service intends to award contracts in early 2021.
