Locally Designed and Built Pod for IA-63 Pampa 2
After completing development and integration, the Argentine Air Force (FAA) has delivered the first nine Tordo pods for the MAG 7.62mm machinegun.
Designed and built by the Rio Cuarto Regional Workshop, they are intended to provide the FAA with a small-calibre system for use on its training fleet. They are to be operated on IA-63 Pampa 2 aircraft of the fighter school in use with the force’s IV Brigada Aérea.
The FAA now intends to license small local companies to accelerate series production and address the regional market in South America, guaranteeing a continuous logistics chain for future customers. Further developments – including a 12.7mm calibre pod – are also planned.
