Contract for a Further Three FIC for Coast Guard

The Qatari Ministry of the Interior has recently announced a further contract with ARES Shipyard for three Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) to be delivered in early 2023. The contract continues the strong relationship between shipyard and Emirate, with ARES having delivered a total of 31 new-generation patrol boats to the Qatar Coast Guard over the last six years.

The ARES 40 FIC, featuring an advanced composite hull and capable of 60kt speeds for fast interception, boarding, anti-trafficking/smuggling and escort missions, has a range of over 250nmi and is capable of covering Qatar’s entire EEZ. The can mount remote-controlled, auto-stabilised 12.7mm weapon stations on the rooftop, supported by advanced EO sensors.

The announcement was made public by the Ministry of the Interior during the MILIPOL Exhibition in Doha on 25 May, in which ARES Shipyard has been a participant and exhibitor for many years.
