Range of Devices Demonstrates Flexibility of Application
At AOC’s international symposium and convention in Washington, 25-27 October, Communications and Power Industries (CPI) will showcase a range of advanced traveling wave tube (TWT)-based microwave power modules (MPMs) and solid-state power amplifiers for electronic warfare (EW) applications.
On show will be the PTS10147 – a solid-state, compact, lightweight device, incorporating the latest GaN technology, it operates in the 2-6GHz range with 100W pulsed or continuous wave power and a linear gain of up to 60dB. With an extremely high power-to-volume ratio, the PTS10147 has been designed with EW applications in mind, and is especially effective in the electronic attack role.
Also on display will be the PTXM9754 MPM, which supports radar, EW and communications systems for the US military. Operating at higher frequencies than the PTS10147, the unit has been developed in direct response to a demand for a ‘drop-in’ replacement as an alternative to existing 6-18GHz 100W (minimum) MPMs. It uses a ‘super-mini’ traveling wave tube, a solid-state preamp, and an optimised high-density switched-mode power supply to form a single drop-in amplifier block. This design provides a ‘form, fit, function’ equivalent to existing 6-18GHz MPMs installed across many shipboard, airborne and ground-based systems.
