With the integration of new solid-state radars and a comprehensive toolbox for navigators, SYNAPSIS NX now contributes even more to efficient and safe navigation
German navigation specialist Anschütz has released a new software update for its SYNAPSIS NX Integrated Navigation System (INS).
What’s new in the latest software release?
In essence, SYNAPSIS NX enhances situational awareness by digitally mapping the navigator’s traditional toolkit onto modern, intuitive user interfaces. Its high level of data and information integration not only supports operations on board, but also lays the foundation for further advancements, such as assistance functions.
With this update, SYNAPSIS NX now integrates its first own Solid-State Transceivers (SSTs). Combined with the enhanced SYNAPSIS radar software, the Anschütz SSTs deliver excellent signal processing and target visualisation. As the hardware does not require magnetron replacement, it significantly reduces maintenance requirements.
Within SYNAPSIS NX, raw radar video is distributed to all workstations, allowing each application to make optimal use of the data based on its specific requirements.
Additionally, SYNAPSIS NX expands the range of specialised ECDIS functions, used for example by specialised coastguard and offshore vessels. Comprehensive features for route planning, voyage management and positioning are also available.
Why is SYNAPSIS NX superior to conventional integrated bridge systems?
Maintaining focus is critical to safe navigation. That’s why SYNAPSIS NX includes a sophisticated sensor data and alarm management system that ensures validated and consistent data and labels across all workstations. Instead of having to interact with separate systems, the navigator works with a single harmonised interface.
Multifunctional consoles provide access to all nautical applications – including Radar, ECDIS and conning – from any workplace, giving the entire bridge team full situational awareness and control. Standardised, well-structured user interfaces offer a clear overview and simple operation, while integrated hot standby functions intelligently leverage built-in redundancies to ensure seamless, uninterrupted and safe navigation from any workstation.
In recent years, Anschütz has equipped a wide variety of complex special-purpose vessels with SYNAPSIS NX – including research vessels, icebreakers, multi-purpose vessels for public authorities, heavy-lift carriers, ferries and product tankers.
Thanks to its modular design, based on standard components, racks, modern LAN technology and standardised interfaces, SYNAPSIS NX also offers an attractive and well-supported navigation system solution for integrators.
