An Insight into CZ

High-end Small Arms and Tactical Clothing for Special Forces

[As part of the coverage planned for Enforce Tac in March, Mönch earlier conducted an interview with Franz von Stauffenberg, Director of Sales for Western Europe at Česká Zbrojovka a.s. (CZ). With the cancellation of the exhibition as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are publishing this interview here in place of the now-cancelled Show Dailies, in order to reach our wider audience. – Editor]

Founded in 1936, CZ forms part of the Česká zbrojovka Group SE (CZG), a leading European firearms and tactical accessory company for military, law enforcement, personal protection, hunting, sports shooting and other purposes. Group companies include CZ-USA, Brno Rifles, 4M Systems (tactical clothing) and CZ Export. At its production facility in Uherský Brod, CZG produces firearms that are exported to over 90 countries worldwide. Since 2006, it invested significantly, primarily in development of new generations of service weapons.

SD: Enforce Tac 2020 would have marked the first time CZ exhibited at the show. Is there a new focus on the public administration market?
FvS: CZ is a supplier to several major authorities throughout Europe. In addition to France, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania, CZ also supplies to American and Asian authorities. Many of them come from the special forces sector. With several new products – the new BREN 2 assault rifle, the SCORPIO EVO 3 submachine gun and the P-10 pistol family – we are well positioned for all needs. CZ intends to strengthen its activities in Europe. Part of that strategy is to participate in important trade fairs like Enforce Tac. The event has become a very important trade fair for European authorities. So, we want to introduce our products and our new team.

SD: What are the new products that CZ would have presented Nuremberg?
FvS: The product range for public authorities is constantly being expanded and improved. For the public administration market, we present product improvements for all models. The main focus of our work is to adapt products to the specific requirements of Western customers. In this field, CZ has done a lot in recent years and we would like to introduce this to the customer. In the P-10 area, a new family member will be introduced; with the 4M [STRIKER plate carrier], we will introduce new tactical clothing items.

SD: What are the criteria and the philosophy underlying your development of weapons for both police and military markets?
FvS: CZ products are manufactured in accordance with CIP and NATO standards and are subject to very strict quality control. Production in Uherský Brod, located some 300 kilometres southeast of Prague, corresponds to the most modern technology currently available on the market. We develop in line with market requirements, which the product manager coordinates with the development and production departments. From 2020 on, the European public sector market will be taken into account more closely. In the field of sport pistols, we already belong to the absolute top class, so that all skills are available in-house. After great successes in the civil sector, we now want to set a new focus in the area of public authorities.
