Multiple Development Programmes for Armoured Variants Under Way
Alcon Components announced it has commenced delivery of the first batch of brake upgrade kits for the armoured Toyota LC300 for multiple clients on 30 November.
This follows product launch of the LC300 kits in September, since when the company has received orders from a number of the world’s premier vehicle armourers who are all developing their own LC300 armoured variant designs. Launched by Toyota in June, the new 300 series Land Cruiser has already had a significant impact on the market, and is expected to follow in the footsteps of its 78/79 and 200 series predecessors, becoming the vehicle of choice for armoured defence, security and NGO applications. Alcon is able to offer a ready-made solution for the essential brake upgrade required to accompany the weight-adding armoured modifications, where stock braking systems will become challenged, affecting performance and – more importantly – safety.
Alcon’s new LC300 kit is similar to its well-proven LC200 kit, adapted to fit the new vehicle and engineered to match its dynamics and increased levels of technology and complexity. Fitting the brake upgrade kit will increase available brake torque, reduce brake fade and fluid vaporisation, extend brake service intervals and reduce through-life costs.
Jonathan Edwards, Group Sales Director at Alcon, commented “[…] the dispatch of these new brake upgrade kits today … will be a welcome addition for the entire armoured vehicle market, that is currently developing and certifying their new armoured Toyota LC300 designs […] The team [has] developed multiple off-the-shelf solutions to meet the requirements of OEMs and vehicle modification companies, and this new LC300 kit adds to that story. Our partners and agents are already working hard to supply our class-leading kits to the global armoured vehicle markets, and getting this first batch out of the door is a major milestone”.
