Second Contract for FCS13RE for CARL-GUSTAF
Aimpoint has been awarded a second contract for its FCS13RE fire control system (FCS) by the US military, the company announced on 22 June.
The system is currently being deployed as the primary FCS for the M3E1 MAAWS lightweight 84mm CARL-GUSTAF being produced by Saab for the US Army, USMC and USSOCOM. It is a direct view, dynamic universal reflex sight (DURS), which uses an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic computer to give the gunner an aiming point corrected for range, type of munition, terrain angle and environmental conditions.
In addition to the CARL-GUSTAF, the FCS13RE can also be used on other weapons, including the AT4, 40mm Mk19 high-velocity grenade launcher, M2 .50 calibre heavy machine gun and the M134D Minigun. It provides an extremely high probability of first round hits on both stationary and moving targets during day and night. The system can be enhanced with a magnifier and a thermal imager: it is compatible with all generations of military night vision.
