Lightweight Solutions for Rough Conditions
At the AFCEA exhibition in Bonn this week, roda computer GmbH introduces a new handheld control system for outdoor missions. The manufacturer, specialising in rugged mobile computing systems like notebooks, tablets and displays for military and industrial use, notes that the controller can be customised, is IP65-protected and can house roda’s PANTHER DS13 tablet or a similar device from Panasonic. The solution on display was developed together with MILDEF and is intended to control all kinds of unmanned vehicles, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). The controller enables more comfortable operation, joystick functionalities and an additional protection of the tablet.
roda computer also introduces two additional products: the sixth generation of its ROCKY RK12 15,1” and the second generation of its LIZARD RS13 ruggedised laptops. The new ROCKY RK12 model remains in accordance to roda’s product philosophy: a form factor that is constant to the previous generations and the unique IP65 protection concept, guarantee that water and dust do not pose any hazard, even with uncovered interfaces and removed drives. Performance has been greatly enhanced, says roda, with a stronger Intel platform and more working memory. Great importance was placed on hardware compatibility with the Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 7 operating systems. The ROCKY RK12 is perfectly suited as a computer for installation in protected and armoured vehicles, as well as aircraft, with the addition of military connectors and suitable accessories.
