AFCEA 2019 – ATM PITCHES NEW VEHICLE PANELS

Meeting Growing Demand for More Battlefield Information

ATM ComputerSysteme GmbH introduces three new panels and displays for vehicle applications at the AFCEA show in Bonn this week. The VistaMaster-17 MFD PPC Multitouch display allows the user to touch the capacitive sensor of the display in multiple places at the same time. This simplifies processes and increases the safety of the crew, as soldiers will be familiar with this type of human-machine interaction from smartphones and tablet computers. The multi-touch capability makes it easy to move, select or enlarge objects shown on the display. The PCAP (projected capacitive) technology used in the touch sensor allows the display to be operated by user wearing gloves.

The wide aspect ratio of the VistaMaster-17 MFD PPC Multitouch is ergonomically optimised for human perception, as it enables more information to be displayed. The full HD resolution provides greater depth of detail when processing and viewing high-resolution information. It was an interim solution on the way to VistaMaster-17S.

The VistaMaster-17S is a panel-PC, offering an SIL (Safety Integrity Level) functionality. A separate PC monitors and indicates errors, all in a separate process. An input can be made up to SIL Level 2, the output up to SIL Level 3. This panel PC with SIL functionality is intended to be used in areas where no errors and tolerances are allowed, e.g. in the field of remote-controlled weapon systems. If a deviation occurs, the system indicates this via its alarm function, or prevents e.g. the start of the system.

The third new device on display by ATM is the Bridge Operator Panel (BOP) for the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) LEGUAN tank-launched assault bridge system.
