AeroVironment Announces Switchblade Sensor-to-Shooter Kit

UAVs Become Targeting Nodes for Switchblade

AeroVironment has launched a packaged capability which enables operators of its small ISR UAVs to use them to provide targeting information for the Switchblade loitering munition.

The Switchblade 300 Sensor-to-Shooter Kit includes updates to the FalconView mapping and mission-planning application, sensor-to-shooter software, a ruggedised laptop running Windows 10, and one of the company’s own Pocket Digital Data Link systems. When used together, data from other airborne systems, such as the same company’s Puma 3 AE, Puma LE, Raven B or Wasp AE aircraft, can be integrated and used to supply targeting information for the Switchblade system.

Sensor-to -Shooter maximizes the operator’s ability to see first, strike first, combining the superior intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities of AeroVironment’s SUAS with the precision strike capabilities of the Switchblade loitering missile system,” explained Charles Dean, AeroVironment’s VP for Global Business Development and UAS sales. “The Switchblade 300 Sensor-to-Shooter Kit builds on AeroVironment’s commitment to deliver innovative, streamlined interoperable solutions that elevate … situational awareness, reduce engagement timelines and cognitive load, and increase mission success and operational safety.

Upgrades to the FalconView software allow users to view data from both ISR UAS platforms (1) and the Switchblade loitering munition (2) alongside an annotated mission map (3). (AeroVironment)
