Week-Long Evaluation Highlights Agile Capability

Aeronautics Group has successfully completed a week-long demonstration of its ORBITER UAS system, operating from the Finnish Border Guard’s TURVA patrol vessel, the company announced on 14 October.

Conducted as part of the service’s VALVONTA 2 (surveillance 2) project, the evaluation was designed to examine the potential future integration of UAS on its vessels. ORBITER flew a number of diverse missions, showing capabilities in SAR and maritime ISR, while transmitting a real-time video stream to the vessel’s C2 centre.

“There is a growing need today for tactical drones capable of carrying out ISTAR missions in challenging marine environments,” explained Matan Perry, Aeronautics’ VP of Marketing & Sales. “As pioneers in the field of small tactical UAS, we are proud to be able to successfully demonstrate a solution that has been adapted to meet the needs of the Finnish Border Guard.”
