Aero India 2017: Support for UK Industry

British Government Building on 2015 Defence and International Security Partnership
The British Minister for Defence Procurement, Harriet Baldwin, is leading a high-level delegation in support of the 20 UK companies exhibiting at Aero India 2017 in Bangalore this week. The delegation includes Dominic Asquith, British High Commissioner to India, Lt.-Gen. Mark Poffley, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for Military Capability and Sophie Lane, Regional Director for India in the Defence and Security Organisation of the Department of International Trade.

Showcasing some of the most innovative technology in defence and security, the cutting-edge British businesses at Aero India will continue to forge lasting industrial partnerships and joint ventures with Indian companies, further consolidating the Defence and International Security Partnership agreed in November 2015.

The UK and India have much to offer one another in defence: from manufacturing collaboration and simplified export controls, to military cooperation, training and research partnerships….we will work together with India to build knowledge, security and prosperity through a close industrial, military and economic partnership,” Baldwin told delegates.
