Joint Production of EO Platform for Light Combat Helicopter
Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) has received an offset contract from Elbit Systems Electro-Optics (Elop) to supply 10 Compact Multi-Purpose Advanced Stabilised System (CoMPASS) EO payloads for the Light Helicopter Programme. Formal signature of the contract took place at Aero India 2017 in Bangalore on 15 February.
BEL has entered into a technical collaboration agreement with Elop whereby the Indian company will not only jointly manufacture but will also provide D-Level maintenance for the systems to the user. Elop has transferred the relevant technologies and know-how for this to be achieved.
CoMPASS is a day/night surveillance systemd including a colour TV daylight camera, a third generation 3-5 µm FLIR sensor, a Laser Target Designator and Range Finder (LTDRF) and automatic tracking capabilities, as well as C2 functions. Multiple interfaces enable integration platformsystems, such as the mission computer, fire control, radar, GPS, data downlink and helmet-mounted tracking systems. Its small dimensions, low weight, high level of stabilisation and coverage angles make it an optimal choice for long-range, day/night surveillance, target tracking, fire control applications and search and rescue.
CoMPASS is the most advanced payload version of its family, featuring reduced weight, high degree of modularity and flexibility, space-saving packaging and advanced operational and video processing features.
