Autonomous energy solutions for defence applications
On 12 December 2017, SFC Energy received a major order of the German Armed Forces’ (Bundeswehr) Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technologies and Usage (BAAINBw) for €3.6 million in December 2017, representing the biggest single order in company history.
After first Bundeswehr deployment of SFC fuel cells in 2010, the BAAINBw is now equipping additional Bundeswehr units with SFC Energy’s proven portable Energy Network. In operation, the SFC Energy Network features decisive benefits, enabling weight savings of up to 80% compared to conventional power solutions. With the SFC Power Manager, an intelligent voltage converter, almost any device can be flexibly powered from any available source, e.g. fuel cell, solar panel or battery. Different battery types can be charged on the move. Power supply and energy management are fully automatic, virtually silent, emission-free, and almost undetectable.

The current order, the delivery of which is expected within the next three months, covers the first section of the Bundeswehr’s defined requirements. Strategically, this order is the result of many years of development cooperation.
Numerous international NATO and Partners for Peace (PfP) defence organisations use SFC Energy fuel cell products. SFC fuel cell and accessory products carry a NATO stock number and are approved for air transport according to UN3473.
