Accommodating New Technologies

Boeing wins a DoD contract for next-generation thermal, power and control research

The US Department of Defence announced that Boeing Co., Hazelwood, Missouri, had been awarded a not-to-exceed $409million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for next-generation thermal, power and control (NGT-PAC) programme. This contract is a joint effort between multiple government agencies and industries to develop state-of-the-arts technologies and conduct applied research for increased knowledge and understanding of future PAC requirements.

Next generation aircraft power-control and thermal management systems aim to facilitate future military planes’ accommodation of new technologies such as laser weapons, power electronic warfare (EW) and low-observability.

This award is the result of a competitive acquisition, for which seven offers were received and Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the contracting activity.
