The submarine ‘Isaac Peral’ (S-81) continues with its operational activity
The submarine will participate in the Armed Forces’ Day (DIFAS) in the Canary Islands and in the Live Exercise SINKEX.
The submarine ‘Isaac Peral’ (S-81) continues with its scheduled activities, once its operational qualification process successfully concluded on May 12 after weeks of intense trials.
Operational Qualification of the submarine ‘Isaac Peral’
The Operational Qualification consists of the evaluation of the general condition of the submarine to assess its capability to operate in the missions for which it was designed. This evaluation is based on three pillars: materiel, personnel and training. To this end, a series of exercises and drills, both at sea and in port, were scheduled in different scenarios to allow the implementation and evaluation of the submarine’s ample capabilities.
To carry out the evaluations of all its naval units, the Armada operates the Combat Evaluation Center (CEVACO in its Spanish initials), which performs the necessary trials and evaluations both in port and at sea.
The Operational Qualification of the S-81 lasted three weeks. To support this evaluation, different units such as frigates, helicopters, the submarine ‚Galerna‘, Special Operations squads and the auxiliary vessels ‚Neptuno‘ and ‚Cartagena‘ collaborated in the process.
Once this demanding procedure was passed, the submarine was certified to operate in the missions determined by the national defense guidelines.
Upcoming operational activities
The ‚Isaac Peral‘ will be one of the naval units that will participate in the Armed Forces‘ Day (DIFAS 25), carrying out naval presence in the port of Las Palmas between June 3 and 8 and participating in the naval review that will take place on June 6, presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI.
After the DIFAS 25 events, the S-81 will be integrated, for the first time, into the Armada’s Expeditionary Task Group ‚Dedalo‘ and will take part in real weapon exercises, together with the rest of the participating air and surface units.
