New Radar NX software integrates Anschütz SST radar sensors

Radar NX. (Anschütz)

With the Radar NX application, the SYNAPSIS radar system delivers a versatile and powerful solution for safe navigation and collision avoidance

The new software release, SYNAPSIS 5.8, connects Radar NX with the new Anschütz Solid-State Transceivers (SSTs) and is now available and type-approved.

With the new Anschütz SSTs, Radar NX incorporates sensors with fully digital signal generation and processing, providing high-fidelity raw radar video via Ethernet to radar bridge workstations. The new software includes radar target processing and video presentation optimised for SST sensors. Together, Radar NX and the Anschütz SSTs provide excellent target tracking and management, along with an even clearer and more precise visualisation of the maritime situation.

Key features and benefits of Radar NX in combination with SSTs include:

  • Excellent signal processing and razor-sharp, reliable visualisation of targets at both short and long ranges, supported by Anschütz’s integrated, powerful and sophisticated target tracker
  • CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) technology offering advanced anti-clutter capabilities by evaluating radar returns in small groups of range bins and generating knowledge about the clutter situation – separately for all directions and ranges – while identifying false returns caused by waves, precipitation, clouds or other disturbances
  • Advanced features, such as tracking of up to 200 ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) radar targets per console and 400 ARPA targets per system, radar and AIS (Automatic Identification System) target association, seamless radar video merging, and more
  • Asterix server functionality that converts the Anschütz SST raw radar video into the Asterix CAT-240 radar video standard, allowing easy integration and processing by third-party applications

Intuitive and easy to use, SYNAPSIS Radar NX reliably supports the bridge team in safe navigation and collision avoidance. Without overwhelming the crew with redundant information or confusing displays, Radar NX accurately shows the positions of other surface vessels, obstacles, hazards, navigation objects and shorelines.

With its powerful long- and short-range signal processing, crisp target display and simple, clear user interface, Radar NX is ideal for vessels with the highest safety requirements, such as tankers, research vessels, cruise ships and mega yachts.

Radar NX also offers numerous additional features, such as multiple electronic bearing lines, virtual range markers, and up to 99 parallel index lines for safe and independent position monitoring. In a non-IMO mode, the Radar NX family offers extended functionality typically required by naval, coastguard or offshore vessels, including area surveillance and helicopter guidance. More details can be found under Naval Radar NX.

The Anschütz SST radar sensors promise high reliability and, due to the absence of a magnetron, significantly reduced maintenance requirements and costs.

Anschütz supplies the SYNAPSIS radar systems with the latest Small Marine Computers and 27″ displays featuring anti-glare technology. SYNAPSIS radars are type-approved and fully compliant with current regulations and standards.
