CAE Launches PRODIGY Image Generator
CAE has launched its PRODIGY image generator during I/ITSEC 2021 in Florida, and is demonstrating the high-fidelity training software as part of the wider PRODIGY visual system, which includes projectors and dome display.
PRODIGY IG is a collaboration with Epic Games, whose Unreal Engine is a software suite developed for game designers which delivers high-fidelity graphics and physics-based simulation. The system supports the Open Geospatial Consortium Common Data Base and existing CAE databases, and allows for a thousand-fold increase in the number of entities present in a virtual environment. It uses COTS hardware and software, ensuring its increased capability is delivered in a smaller footprint, so existing users should be able to upgrade without running out of space.
“CAE is continually investing in bringing digitally immersive training solutions to market that enable the creation of high-fidelity, ultra-realistic virtual worlds,” stated Dan Gelston, President, Defence & Security. “Our new PRODIGY image generator builds on CAE’s longstanding commitment to driving industry standards as well as our experience and expertise in leveraging technologies to meet the specific needs of our military customers for simulation-based training.”
