Supports Broad Range of Missions in Restricted Environments
UAV Factory has launched the PENGUIN C Mk2, which provides precision VTOL capability to support missions in restricted environments.
Using patented AEROFLOW Boom Technology, PENGUIN C Mk2 demonstrates a 20% increase in flight endurance. The technology features hoods over the vertical lifting rotors that automatically enclose the lifting rotors while in horizontal flight, significantly reducing parasitic drag. The result is 14+ hours of flight endurance, making it the ideal VTOL solution in its class. The carbon-fibre composite booms are both light and rigid, and battery replacement is simple and takes under two minutes, minimising delay between flights. With the added weight of the booms to enable VTOL operations, the PENGUIN C Mk2 steps into the Group 3 UAS category with a 32kg MTOW. The UAS has one of the smallest logistical footprints in its class. A full system – consisting of three air vehicles, three EPSILON EO/IR gimbals, a ground control station and a MIMO tracking antenna – can be transported in 5 Pelican cases, allowing for rapid and easy assembly.
With a payload capacity of 4.5kg, PENGUIN C Mk2 can be fitted with a variety of high performance payloads, the most advanced of which is the EPSILON 180 from Octopus ISR, featuring a cooled MWIR thermal imager with continuous 15x optical zoom and a long-range 90x zoom 4k daylight camera, stabilised at 40 uRad jitter. The air vehicle also incorporates an innovative, rapidly swappable payload nose cone, which can be changed out under two minutes and is gyro-stabilised in the roll axis, thereby adding an additional stabilisation axis to any payload.
The PENGUIN Mk2 VTOL has completed an extensive flight validation programme, with over 600 successful take-offs and landings in diverse environmental conditions, proving its capability to operate in 15m/s winds and at temperatures from -40/+50°C.
