KMW Will Complete Delivery By 2022
Germany’s Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), has commissioned Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) to supply a total of nine MUNGO N/C RECCE reconnaissance systems, the company announced on 24 July. In addition to supplying the vehicles, the contract encompasses spare parts packages and the training of crew and maintenance personnel.
The MUNGO N/C RECCE is a nuclear-chemical detection-capable reconnaissance vehicle with a range of equipment including mass spectrometer, radiation detector and weather sensors at the disposal of the three-man crew. Capable of detecting, tracking and identifying nuclear and chemical threats, the vehicle provides the crew with a safe heaven and shelter throughout the reconnaissance and identification process. The crew is also able to conduct such activities as lane and/or contaminated ground marking from the interior of the vehicle.
The MUNGO N/C RECCE can be transported as an internal load in either CH-47 or CH-53 helicopters, due to its light weight and external dimensions. All nine vehicles will be delivered by the end of 2022.
