Expected to be Fully Operational by mid-2019
Construction of two of the six modules for the Mexican Navy’s SIGMA 10514-class REFORMER frigate began in Damen’s Vlissingen shipyards in the Netherlands in August 2017: the remaining four were built in Mexico. The original programme schedule called for integration of all modules to be completed by September 2018 and a prospective launch date was set for November. The vessel is expected to be fully operational in Mexican Navy service by mid-2019.
Displacing 2,570t with an overall length of 107.5 m and a speed of 25kt, the vessel will feature HARPOON Block II anti-ship missiles, Mark 54 MAKO anti-submarine torpedoes in two Mk32 triple tubes and SEA SPARROW surface to air system. RIM-116 RAM Block II missiles will also be fitted and a Bofors 57mm gun will round out the weaponry. The vessel will carry an MH-60 SEAHAWK helicopter.
Sensors include a Raytheon Anschütz SYNAPSIS and Thales SMART-S MK2 3D radar. Sonar capabilities include a Thales CAPTAS-2.
