USAF Requires at Least 779 AN/ALR-69A(V)
Raytheon announced on 1 May that it has received a contract award from the US Air Force (USAF) for at least 779 AN/ALR-69A(V) radar warning receivers (RWR).
Described as “the world’s first all-digital” RWR, the AN/ALR-69A(V) enhances survivability by providing ‘sensors forward’ situational awareness without the necessity for hardware modifications. It offers improved detection range and accurate, unambiguous identification in dense signal environments comprised of threat signals and those from wingmen, coalition partners and commercial operations, while simultaneously assisting with targeting solutions. Its 360° coverage is provided by four independent radar receivers, each covering one quadrant of the aircraft.
The contract calls for rapid procurement of “779 units or more” for USAF tactical air abnd large body aircraft. The ALR-69A is currently installed on USAF C-130H and KC-46A platforms and is being tested on the F-16.
“The ALR-69A provides USAF pilots the situational awareness required to operate in current and future complex emitter environments,” commented Vice President of Raytheon Electronic Warfare Systems, Travis Slocumb. “We will continue to upgrade the receiver and add machine learning-based modules so the system can autonomously adapt to new threats.”
