Skyperion helps to protect important events
Designed to watch the electromagnetic spectrum for the presence of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Metis Aerospace shared with MONS during the United Kingdom Security Exhibition, held in London on 29th and 30th November, that the firm recently deployed its Skyperion Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) system tio provide head of state protection at a recent national event.
The Skyperion was deployed to help protect the event against any unauthorised use of UAVs by detecting the radio frequency emissions between the ground control station and the aircraft. These emissions can then be geo-located to provide the UAV operator’s location. During this recent deployment the Skyperion was housed inside a van alongside its RF sensors, with other sensors mounted on nearby buildings to increase the depth and breadth of RF coverage, officials from the company disclosed. The Skyperion has a current detection bandwidth of 400 megahertz to six gigahertz and has been developed from the company’s Hyperion SIGINT product which has a detection bandwidth of 30 megahertz to 18GHz.
