5.56MM NATO COTS Carbines Tender

4,000 carbines to be procured

 

Colt’s Manufacturing, Daniel Defense, FN America, and Remington Arms will compete for each order of the $28,482,840 firm-fixed-price contract to fabricate, locate, procure or otherwise provide 4,000 5.56MM NATO commercial off-the-shelf carbines at a barrel length of 15.5in (Chrome Lined Bore and Chamber, 1/7″ RH Twist, Heavy Variant) with an overall length of approx.  29.75in (Collapsed) – 33in (Extended). The weapon should weigh less than 8lbs empty, with Modes of Fire: Safe/Semi/Auto Control Group at a Cyclic Rate of approx. 700-970 rounds per minute. The Handguard Rail system ahs to be compatible to MIL-STD-1913 with rails at 12, 9, 6, and 3 o’clock positions with numbered attachment points and able to accommodate attaching an M203 grenade launcher to the carbine’s barrel. 

Four bids were solicited with four bids received.

Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of 13 July 2019. US Army Contracting Command, on behalf of Project Manager Soldier Weapons, is the contracting activity. Project Manager Soldier Weapons is conducting a market survey to identify sources/vendors capable of supplying commercially available weapon systems with the criteria noted.

Remington announced the award of a contract to supply the US Army with COTS 5.56mm Carbines: This is the second significant award for 5.56mm carbines to Remington by the US Army on behalf of key international allies. Remington Chief Executive Officer Anthony Acitelli said of the award: “Remington is proud of our continuing contribution to public safety and our nation’s national security priorities worldwide. We look forward to continuing our daily dedication to the design, production, and delivery of the highest quality military and law enforcement products for our public safety officers, warfighters, and allies alike.”
