3D Perception at I/ITSEC 2016

NORTHSTAR integrated simulation display solution

3D perception at booth #867 is showcasing their immersive display solution, NORTHSTAR, with visual content provided courtesy of the AECOMM/URS X-IG Image Generator. 3D perception is supporting two additional displays with NORTHSTAR warp, blend, and auto-alignment technologies:

Barco at booth #1563, powering their brand new F70, 4K-resolution projectors.

Carl Zeiss Corp at booth #1163, powering their ZEISS VELVET, 2.5M to 1 contrast projectors.

NORTHSTAR is projector-independent, allowing for use with an ever-evolving catalogue of projection technologies and a clear and open upgrade path. 3D perception‘s advanced NORTHSTAR visual display solution combines an advanced rack-mount multi-projector display processor, nBox, with 3DP Certified Projectors and image auto-alignment technologies in the form of AURORA sensor-instrumented screens, or StarScan, a screen-independent, precision 3D scanner and imager.

At the heart of 3D perception‘s NORTHSTAR solution is nBox, an all-in-one display processor that warps, blends, and colour corrects raw IG content. nBox outputs to multiple projectors and seamlessly displays imagery across any shaped screens. nBox calibrates colour, gamma, contrast and compensates for hot spots, creating a truly consistent image. nBox treats the multi-projector theatre as one continuous display – not as an array of individually controlled projectors. nBox allows for a projector upgrade path while keeping display infrastructure in place.

nControl is an intuitive, user-friendly graphical interface for control and maintenance of NORTHSTAR displays and enables users to approach it as an integrated system, not as seperate components. nControl is installed on the user’s maintenance PC or IG host which is networked to nBox. nControl is responsible for maintaining a consistently optimised image in concert with all Northstar components, managing geometry adjustment, edge blending, colour balancing, and gamma correction. With a push of a button, it automates maintenance procedures and readjusts the image in seconds. nControl can be directly operated or can be interfaced with the user’s IG/host for automatic display optimisation for time of day and lighting condition changes.

3D perception‘s AURORA auto-aligning instrumented screens feature embedded sensors. WarpSync and ChromaSync sensors detect the alignment and quality of projector images, communicate with nBox, and automatically make precision adjustments to geometry, edge blending, colour, and intensity. Aurora screens are available for most any size and shape requirements, and custom screens can be produced as needed. Screens can be configured at any horizontal and vertical field of view, up to complete dome display systems. Existing systems can be retrotted with Aurora instrumentation for use with the NORTHSTAR ecosystem.
